I keep Crappie and bluegill and will normally release everything else. I will normally keep 9-11 unless they are larger than normal. That is a meal for my family. I will keep a nice sized bass on occasion for the grill. I do not keep many for the freezer because I can catch a small mess just about anytime the wife wants to fry some up.

I'll keep enough crappie & bluegill to always have some in the freezer. And I also supply a couple of elderly family members with fish. Almost always throw everything else back. We will keep catfish if we are preparing for fish fry's at the local campground.

yea i feed my family mostly on wilde game and fish probally 5 meals a weak, i dont kill flathead but thats mostly becals i catch them during the spawn and for some reason when they get in the river they taste muddy but i knock the heck out of the channels but i prefer bass and crappie becals you can change it up more with cooking but ive just got back into fishing in the last couple years, i was a Comercial fisherman in AK for acouple yrs and that kinda killed my drive for sportfishing

Nothing wrong with keeping fish for the table as long as you stay within the regs.

I only eat trout salmon and some crappie now and then but I would say 95% is catch and release for me unless my elderly neighbor wants some fish then I catch them clean them and give them to her.

First I love the taste of crappie such a clean meal. I fry fish for family members, friends, elders and have a few fish frys at church. So if they are legal then they are put to Grease.

We eat crappie on a weekly basis almost. Within the regulations set forth by the state, it's seldom that I release any fish. We keep any crappie over 11", period. State minimum is 10". I do give fish to neighbors, family and a few friends. We also have several large fries during the year, and I have cooked fish for my employees about once a year.
The biologist says they will die in 4 to 7 years anyway, they might as well pay the price to my fillet knife and enjoy the best eating fish anywhere with family and friends!
