man, can't believe it is already the middle of july. i talked to scott, lafishnut, and he said that he rented his cabin last week. i am posting the site to rent cabins in case you haven't done it yet or don't know where to go. go to reserveamerica.com and then you can enter d'arbonne state park in the search box and go from there. if anyone has any trouble, just call me and i will help ya out. 318.272.8069

Please remember that 2016 will be the year for lowering the lake four feet. This drawdown is scheduled for every four years and normally starts right after the Labor Day weekend. The gates are usually closed on Jan. 15th of the next year.

So the drawdown would start after Labor Day, 2016?

What effect does the drawdown have on the fishing?

my first year to do this was a draw down year. i think the draw down is not as much of a determining factor as to whether or not we catch fish as many other things. cooler weather, amount of rain, clarity of water i believe are all bigger factors. but with us pushing it back th is year to mid november will tremendously help the fishing. i plan to send slab a message and see if this will work into his schedule. everyone cross your fingers. LOL

The four foot drop seems to concentrate the fish in the channel more and usually improves fishing.....the water depth at the state park going from the boat ramp to the main channel is not four feet deep in most areas, therefore you will have to trailer to Corney Creek bridge or the area around Jake's to launch.
