    Default Lake Bistineau Reports

Fished Bistineau yesterday, 12-26-14. One of first boats launched at Port (just south of my camp). Very slow day. Caught one fish at about 8' on a shiner and lost a second on tops across from Port where most of the boats there stacked up. Nothing on jigs. Biggest crappie I can ever remember catching and put it back. Didn't weigh it but measured at 16 inches. Saw two boats doing decent but nothing crazy. Most left before lunch so it appears bite is off right now.

I was there Friday too...pulled out about 1230 empty handed and went to dorcheat. Did a little better there. Managed about a dozen tight in the brush and logjams. Nothing close to 16" though.

I have looked at the lake with Google Earth. I can only assume the ' Port The Locals refer to is Noles Landing at the end of Yellow Pine Rd. With the Draw Down the Crappie should be packed in the deeper areas at Noles Landing area

Yep that's it FOL...the area from the launch to about a mile south is one of the deepest parts of the lake. They're in there... but there's been a lot if fishing pressure in that 1 mile stretch. There have been up to a dozen boats jammed up straight across from the launch. Lots of brush there close to the deeper water. But I don't go fishing to fight crowds...

Yep thats about it for the most part...you can find a little over 14 just south of the boat ramp right smack in the middle of the channel for a little ways. At least by my fishfinder about 16" under the waterline. So actual depth may be around 15. But most have been being caught in 8-10' Ive trolled shiners & jigs down the channel from Diamond-T all the way back to the Port the past 3 trips and they just arent havin any of it. I think I may be hittin up Dorcheat a little more till they pick back up..I didnt think you could still launch with the water low but we did fine Friday.

Yessir...Launched at around 1 pulled out around 530. Me and my cousin and 2 others were in 2 boats. He had motor problems so we just stuck around just south of the bridges.

Straight rookie question but how are you setting up your rigs to troll on Bistineau, dragging jigs with trolling motor at different depths?
