The bite is getting a little better on Ky. with the rising water and warmer temps. Might be worth the gas! :D

Got a problem. Don't have any of the kids this weekend. Got a wife who wants to go camping and catch some crappie. I know what your thinking.... the perfect female. She also loves football and her favorite channel is ESPN. She is perfect. My problem is where to go this weekend. Kentucky Lake is real tempting but I live in Louisville and I hate paying the gas. I caught a lot out of Blood River this year all ready. Next thought is Rough River but I haven't heard how the fishing is going or how the water level is. I really don't feel like replacing my lower unit this year, but it is a fairly close drive. Final choice is probably Taylorsville. I have killed that lake this year but the 15 keeper only deal kills me. I was done a few weeks ago in an hour and a half. The drive is real close obviosly. The weather will be perfect. Might even get the wife into a swimsuit for a better view, but haven't got a clue where to go. Any suggestions?

I third it! Like Casey and Wiskers said we are prime for what will be one of the final large pushes of white crappie into the shallows this spring. And since you sound like you know Blood River already it may not get any better! Also, check out the picture of two young new I took out last week. Even though the weather was tough we managed some good ones out of Blood River. And they were all pre-spawn crappie just waiting to move shallow.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Forget about Taylorsville Lake ... that rain put it 5ft over Summer PoolOriginally Posted by Jigboy

It won't be much for a week or so.
Have you given any thought to Green River Lake ?? It's at Summer Pool, and this warming trend may start them back to the banks.
Which reminds me ...... ALWAYS check here : http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/wc/reports/lkreport.html : before you head out to T-ville, Rough, Green, Nolin, or Barren ... just to get a water level check![]()
You can also click on the current water level numbers (in blue) and it will take you to a chart, showing the past year's water level fluctuations, and the rainfall amounts that caused them, plus the outflow rates that were used to rectify the situation. Good info, updated daily !!
Don't feel bad about the 15fish/person/day creel, on Taylorsville. It's too small to have a bigger creel law. And no one says you have to "stop" fishing, once you've caught a limit :p ... you just have to stop "keeping" :D

I have never fished Green River before. I camped there once but don't know the lake at all. After reading your report on Taylorsville I am learning towards KY Lake more and more. I just know I will regret it if I don't go. Gas continues to drop a little day by day. I was also glad to read that Taylorsville does so well up into May. Derby week will be my last big weekend I will get to fish until June and then I will start fishing more at night. The kids and I love to fish under the lanterns during the summer. Usually we take a little tv and they watch movies if the fish arent biting and snack all night on some oreos. Hopefully, between this weekend and Derby week, I will get a lot of crappie in the freezer. Spring is for food, summer is for fun.

I vote for Ky Lake also. If I lived in Louisville, I'd just have to go there once a month or so. If my wife would ASK me to take her camping and fishing, I'd make the drive once a month from Cincy.
All kidding aside, ya can"t beat the LBL as a great place to spend a few days.
Couldn't stand it any longer. I booked a place a Ken Lake Lodge. Heading out early Friday afternoon. Already made celebration dinner plans at Patties 1880's Settlement. Nothing beats a 2" thick pork chop after a long day on the lake.
I will be fishing Blood River. I am in a 19' Sea Ark with "Hook, Line, & Sinker on the back. I will be long line trolling and hopefully pulling in a couple 2 pounders . I have caught a lot of crappie this year but a nice 3 pounder would sure look nice to my other crappie on the wall.
See ya on the water. If anyone has any color, depth or location suggestions I would appreciate it. If you see me, give oh Jigboy a shout.

Translucent Chartruse w/ metal flake and a red or purple head was the ticket on Blood last Saturday.
My "GO TO" color this year has been watermelon w/ a chartruse tail.
Fish are going to be headed in the direction of Jack's Branch and Crappie Hollow if they aren't already there. I'll be on Blood as well this weekend.
I haven't been to Patti's this year, but a 2" porkchop can sure make you feel better after a day's fishing!
Good Luck..
..... be sure and look thru this "study", before heading that way : http://www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/navigat...vPath=C101C552Originally Posted by Jigboy
especially where it concerns Blood River (see the maps), as it will show you the more often used "spawning areas"![]()
