Default Boat tax time check it out before you pay!

I found this on another forum, It seems that some boats have been overvalued. I know when I got my bill I was shocked but assumed it was just the way it was. After reading a post on BassBoat.com I checked with the PVA office and to my surprise she said she would help me out. I have not completed the transaction as of yet. I am hopeful to cut the bill in half as some of the guys did over on the other forum.

PVA in your county. She indicated that she probably could help me out. I didn't have my boat numbers when I called so I will have to do it tomorrow.

    Default Boat taxes

All ya'll will have to do is go in on your own and tell them what your boat and motor is worth. They for the most part don't have a clue, just remember though. Don't tell em its worth 300 and then get insurance on it for 5000..LOL...on another note I found out something that may save boat owners a lot of money . If you have replacement insurance be careful of what you think you might be getting. I found that I was paying a premium on 15,000 in case I totaled my boat I would get the equilavent or 15,000 cash to buy another boat...............WRONG.........I found that if I had totaled my boat even though I was paying premiums on 15,000 that I would only get 8500 in insurance payment....Talk about a ripoff !!! When I asked why they didn't tell me about this their answer was "we are not entitled to inform policy holders of this information"......So, I dropped my insurance down to cover 8500 and saved a load of money.....just food for thought

Going to check on mine, too. I paid $25 total last year and it's $69 and change this year. What's up with that?

I just finished a phone call to the PVA with my boat numbers. She asked me what it is worth. I wanted to be honest and told her what I paid for it and she said then that is what it is worth and made the adjustments. Not a problem, she wanted a fair estimate and I got a fair tax bill.
