My last 3 motors have been motorguides and I have no complaints. My dad who fishes 4-5 days a week since retirement has always ran minn kotas, owning at least 6 new ones in the last 10 years and lately he can't get one to hold up. He currently runs 2, 36v 101lb motors on his jon boat and both have been in the shop multiple times while under warranty (which is a 2 hour drive to the nearest service center). One of these motors launched itself off the front of the boat after it broke itself out of the mount. The mount had an obvious casting flaw that anyone could see. Minnkota tried to say he had hit something with the motor and broke the mount which was 100% not the case. He had to threaten them with a lawyer before they would replace the motor. He has had trouble with his other motors at well.
Not trying to hijack this thread just thought I'd mention that. My motor is a 67lb 24v motorguide with the 3 blade ninja prop. I'm interested to know the benefits of switching to a 2 blade myself.
