Had a MG on my boat for awhile. Ran both props. Saw no difference in power, speed or battery life. Pull prop and make sure nothing is behind it.

Thanks Cray, I should have mentioned that was the first thing I did, I also checked the shaft in the motor to make sure it wasn't bent. Like I said before, it happens occasionally and I switch speeds and it quitens down , sometimes it seems to get louder after I have used it for awhile.

Well, it sure won't hurt anything to change the prop. Could be outer bearing. Might see if you can pull up a parts diagram on the motor. Look at the front bearing and see if it is a roller bearing or just a bushing. I have seen some where they use a bushing on the outer end. If so that could be the source of your noise. If it is a true bearing it could also be going out and would be caused by a bad seal. Also when you get prop off check end play and up and down movement of the shaft.

It could be the brushes thats in the motor housing. It will whin if they are getting too short I had to replace mine in a minn kota pd2 55lb. as for the prop I'm Interested in the advantages versus disadvantages of a 2 blade vs 3 blade I have a three blade on my 18' skeeter.
