What ever time we decide for the "stop fishing time", we should give a hour to get to the weigh in line instead of a half hour. Most that fishes tourneys know that you will either have to dock your boat or be back in enough time to pull your boat out and park it, then bring your fish to the weigh in line. These are standard at about any tournament.
Since we have voted on 5 lakes, then i would say try 5 tourneys. If after a couple, it ain't working then stop. We could pick the lakes to have the tourneys on, in the order that they were voted on in the poll already. Or by poll, again. Or nominate a couple of people for weghtmaster/official, vote, then let the official decide. Just suggestions.
I would say we wouldn't want "real" easy situation to fish in. Thats the thing about tournament fishing, you pick the date in advance and when that day comes, you fish it. It may be a perfect day or a cloudy, windy, cold day and then you have to start pulling your tricks out of your bag. With it being a "fun club tourney" i don't know about sitting in a down pour all day in cold weather for someone to get sick as a dog. But that should be up to the official. I would say if the official was not going to be able to make it, then we will have to have someone as a back up, just for that tourney, that would be there.
As far as which months to have it, we could vote/poll, again. Or let the official decide, again, just a suggestion.
And Pappy, if you haven't notice, there are several that is ready to get started fishing.
getting to complicated.I would vote for option to pay at ramp.working in factory I don't know about overtime until last day i work.so i wouldn't want to pay in advance and then possibly pay a fee to get money back and not be able to fish a single tourney and come out in the hole.i hope we would consider sunday as the tourney day because it is the one day that i think no matter weather you are retired or work five days a week or work in factories that are seven day a week schedules, that most everyone can come out and fish.i want to be apart of a club that promotes fellowship, inclusion, and meeting other crappie fisherman, and having fun.couldn't we get list of ky c.com user names and use this as verification of membership when you pay?either early or at ramp.you mark paid next to user name.cash only at ramp.just my thoughts for conversation.and cusa doesn't have any tourneys in feb.
I have been reading all the post about the fruit jar tourney and i,m all for it. I havent fished any crappie tourneys since Bill Westmoreland died, that tourney was for charity, but it paid out quite a bit of money, in the early years there were about 300 or more boats in it. Everyone had a good time and the entry fees went to the Lexington Hospitable. We launched from various sites and was given a time to start fishing and a time to be at the weighin . There was no problems and everyone had a good time. I talked to my grandson and he is all for it, his main concern was if Wiskers and I fish would be there. He hasn't got over me being sick and not able to make the western ky shindig. As far as the rules keep it simple, and have fun seeing everyone. And the Barney Boat!!!
Since slabeye told me I could fish these tournaments with him, I agree with everything he said.
so how much long you goint to keep the poll up for the lakes. everybody know it going to be green, ky lake, cumberland, barren and taylorsville
I think from a SAFETY stand point if we fishing cumberland i think we need to fish it first or before April. they say they are bringing it up 30 feet in the spring. chucky and slabslayer1 can back me on this but it is no place to be with all the trash. and in the hotter months the big boats just about sink you. chucky probably knows more details about when they are bringing it back up.
Ill fish em all except the ky lake one. Im not driving 5 hours and staying in a hotel for a chance to win $100. Im in for the other 4 though. Does anyone know if the Twin Lakes Crappie Club will be fishing the Ky lake one? They have quite a few boats that show up im sure, and thats thier stomping ground isnt it?
I think Feb. or March for cumberland if you want to have a chance at a big weigh in.
