And they can be caught. A few tournament walleye fishermen tried a few years back and caught several over 10 lbs. I've tried on several occasions without much luck. Crank baits on the main lake flats can produce this time of year as can traditional nightcrawler/spinner rigs. Some folks swear by downrigger trolling as well. Best I ever did was fishing a Carolina rigged lizard during a bass tournament one May night. Caught 5 over 24 inches. Never did catch any bass.:D Another methid is fishing jerk baits off of main lake points at night in April and May. I have a friend that keeps showing me pictures of the walleye he catches this way. Oh well. He's retired. I have to work.![]()
