Talking Laurel is full of walleye....

And they can be caught. A few tournament walleye fishermen tried a few years back and caught several over 10 lbs. I've tried on several occasions without much luck. Crank baits on the main lake flats can produce this time of year as can traditional nightcrawler/spinner rigs. Some folks swear by downrigger trolling as well. Best I ever did was fishing a Carolina rigged lizard during a bass tournament one May night. Caught 5 over 24 inches. Never did catch any bass.:D Another methid is fishing jerk baits off of main lake points at night in April and May. I have a friend that keeps showing me pictures of the walleye he catches this way. Oh well. He's retired. I have to work.

I have caught them trolling crankbaits. I have never found a pattern to them though. I look for warm water in the spring, and wind blown banks in the summer.

Never fished Laurel but I always do better on Green when I can find moving water. Usually in feeder creeks and main river during winter and summer and main lake flats adjacent to the river channel when they are pulling water in the warmer months. My locator method most of the year is to troll with Shad Rap-type crankbaits but will switch to a crawler harness this time of the year when the fish have slowed down. I only caught 4 last year in 2 outings but have moved almost entirely to crappie fishing after discovering this board. Let me know if I can be of any help. Walleye are one of Kentucky's most elusive fish-but are tasty and down right fun to catch once you can get on them.

Allstar ... here's all the scoop you need on "worm harnesses" : worm harness - Google Search ... so take your pick

The only Walleye I've ever caught, came from Lake Cumberland (crankbaits) while actually fishing for them .... and on Green River Lake (Roadrunners) while I was actually fishing for Crappie Doh :p

The Lake Cumberland eyes came from around flooded brush, while the Green River Lake ones came off a pea gravel bank (just outside a creek mouth point). Both times would have been in the Spring, and probably in mid-late April.
