My bases are threaded and I use a jam nut to screw down the upright.
Getting the bases out of the way is also why I have them mounted to the accessory rail on the gunwale. I can leave them in there and remove the T or take the whole thing out in a matter of a couple of minutes.
Wiskers, I'm gonna have your crew pick me up one of those bases and possibly two (one for a buddy) if I can figure out how to get the money to you guys between now and then. I would just give mrdux my credit card but he would probably go hog wild with it. :D
