Default Big bluegill/shellcracker winter fishing in Kentucky?

I've read where several people from states south of us have been catching good bluegill in the winter. Have any of you tried it here in Kentucky and had any luck? If so, what depth and are you tightlining with worms around brush in deep water or do you find them out of points?

I've caught a few gill while crappie fishing and had a couple bite the ends of my plastics off so I'm thinking I might take a bluegill outfit with me next time and give it a try.

I have been fishing crappie in the river channels on Toledobend and doing quite well. The other day I located a cut in the channel i was fishing, there was some brush there also.I kept geting short hits and realized theyy were probably Bluegill. I rigged up two 1/64oz black flu-flu jigs with power bait maggots and caught 18 verry nice ones, they were about 6 ft. above th brush in 28 ft of water. Have always caught my biggest bluegill on black flu-flu's. ..............Granite

I accidently stumbled upon what may be a good winter tactic. I was trying to catch crappie in about 20 ft. of water and put on a 1/4 oz. jigging spoon. Started pulling up good sized bream one after another and had a great day with 22 caught in one and a half hours. Can't wait to try it again to see if it can work consistently.
