    Default Cave Run/Licking River

Has anyone tried running up the river using the map that has the 134 waypoints from Boat Row Cut to Bangor Boat Dock? I guess I'll put them in my depthfinder twice so I have a route set up for starting at either end. The map has a big disclaimer that says your not supposed to use it for navigation but what other purpose could it be used for?

Even with a map that is some scary water, with all the stumps. If you don't know the lake and veer out of the channel any at all is a good way for your lower unit to find the stumps. There just so many under the water you cannot see. I've seen people run up on plane and seem to be going pretty fast but they have got more nerve then me,most of traveling is at idle speed.
Just be careful when you up the river.

Yeah, those coordinates are right, I use em, but they arent perfect and you need to go slow until you learn it yourself, check it out sometime when the lake is down and you will see why...be careful in there

Thanks, I'll probably take your advise, put the route in my depthfinder and wait until winter to try it out. I used to bass and muskie fish the lake but was always to chicken to take on the trees in the river. I think that the rest of the summer I'll night fish the other end.

    Prtlycldy,

Its ok to run it in summer if you are familiar with it, more water over the tree tops, but in winter you can see the channel and hidden trees better but I wouldnt wait till winter, some good fall/late summer fishing goes on up-river, you just need to trailer you boat to poppin-rock or bangor and you will already be launching way up river, then use the gps to idle or run slow to you spots, thats the safest way to do it the first few times. Good luck!
