I have searched high and low on this site for the definition of "tick, tick, thump" or anything related and can not figure out what this means. Can someone please explain what this is referring to?

What I look for is stable conditionsThumbs Up & thermoclines set. No changesDohDoh of inflow or outflow. DEN !!!!! I start lookin reguardless of surface temps. Prolly hotbut not nessessary as much as stable. Headed down to Hugo in Okieland Friday. Itsa been in the upper 90's

Thank you kindly! That was very similar to the way they were biting over the brush piles at Melvern last weekend. We had to really be patient with them and let them have it for a few seconds before setting the hook. I may try Pomona Sat morning bright and early and see if they are in the timber yet.

Thanks for sharing the video link Chatt. This explains a lot. I generally do most of my crappie fishing through the ice and early Spring. However, the last 3 years on the 4th of July weekend, I've gotten my a$$ handed to me by my wife's uncle. I think I had just as many bites as him and I was so determined to set the hook, I'd tried to set the hook as I felt the initial bite. I found it to be frustrating as my wife's uncle just let his pole sit, get a bite, drink a beer, casually walk to pull the fish in. I'm not exaggerating but he outfished me at least 5-1. This is good timing as I'll be heading out tomorrow morning for my annual whooping at Big Hill. Thanks again.
