I think they do even though I have caught my share on plain heads. I have gotten into the contrast thing where I want to have a head color that contrasts or compliments the color of body I'm using. It's a confidence thing I guess.

I would like to hear how the jig fisherman feel about using painted heads. Do they help catch more fish? How do you choose what color to use?

I believe the different jig heads do make a difference, for instance char head, purple body, char tail.
Give me a bright orange head on anything, don't know if the fish care but I likum.
Finger nail polish... or dip in the the powder hot melt paint works great.
My grand daughters love to come over and try out my different color nail polishes..
