mine has two setting high and low the high end being 1100 and the low heat end being around 750, I use the low setting for everything just need to leave the larger jigs under the heat for a longer count other than that it works great. I personally dont think you need to spend big money to have 10 different temp setting unless you have that money burning a hole in your pocket. :D
I like getting them new from the store (wal-mart, K-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, places like that ) for the warranty can always take it back if it doesn't work right or do what you want it to do. Ebay you are kind of screwed that way it might work today and burn out in a week and you are out you money also allot of manufacturer's dont recognize the warranty for they are close out items and are sold for penny's on the dollar to allot of these sellers.
I am a firm believer in that you get what you pay for
