So you tie in the tail, then the hackle feather, then tie and wrap the chenille tie it off then wrap the feather and tie it off. Did I get that right?

Well I don't completely tie of the chenille until I tie off the hackle feather. Just a few whip finish wraps to hold all and then once the hackle feather is done then another whip finish with all my wraps.

There are more than one way to tie this pattern and some like starting the hackle in front, but I don't. You can tie it in by tying in near the tip and the the wrapping longer parts will end up near the front.

You can do it with the wire rib too, but I am not sure I will keep using a jig long enough to worry about a wire rib. I do use the wire on flies.
