Back before plastics ever come out for a fishing or pan fish all I had was marabou 1/32 ounce and I caught every warm water game fish. There was on the Maribou jigs like so many of the old timers that we fall back onto the old ways and we use them for a back up if the fish are not hitting anything else, I would say that Maribou is very deadly because of the way it looks in the water and with the movement it has also hair jigs are very effective. I don’t have a preference of any plastics. Maybe it’s because I make them and sell them for a sideline but if I was to pick one, it would be one of my little stingers Not the Bobby Garland style, but my own style? I started making jigs in 1963 so I have many years of experience in making jigs of course I don’t post that much on here because I like to see the newcomers come along and learn from us old guys. I am probably one of the oldest jig makers there in the US now I just turned 78 and we still do it for a sideline and I enjoy every minute of it and I welcome any questions you may have for me in making jigs or plastic..
