Skip I watched your feather cutting video and gave it a try. I love the way it looks and sure will make my hackle go a lot further. Thanks

Looks just like it should! Good job! Glad I could help. I never throw any of the feather away. I even keep the part after I cut my little V's and tip off. I figure as long as I leave a tiny bit of the straight parts on thee with the fluff even that can be used to make a different tail. I have a ton of V's and the ends of feathers I have cut up over the years. I keep the hackle I am using in a Freezer Zip Lock bag and after I put that back in the bag I put all the little V's left over into it too. Then I take a Zip Lock Sandwich bag in there too after I fist put the feather ends in that Zip Lock. Then I have a small type Zip Lock in there for any tips I cut off and have left for use later. Only pieces with nothing left usable to I throw in the trash can.

The heads that look like just a lead head are actually bainted with bait fish powder paint. It just makes them look gray and has glitter. Also I have a touch I mixed it with my pink to add some glitter but its hard to tell.

Those look pretty good my friend. Send me a few and I will field test them for you. Shoot me a PM.

Skip, I remember when you taught me that little trick about eight years ago. I also have a zip bag full of "V" material. I do not tie as often as I used to, but when I do, I prefer "DOS V" material and marabou.

Ship it has been a pretty long time since I started doing that. I remember I just was not happy with the conventional way of just feather tips so something like 10 years ago I came up with using a tip and a couple V's which now has turned into sometimes more than 2, but still the same thing. When I do this tail I just showed this CDC Member I use at least 4 and sometimes even 5 to make a nice tail like he is showing here. Even 10 or 11 years ago which ever it was I would also tie some jigs without a tip at all, just like the above jig.

It has been a while for sure Ship, but doesn't really seem near as long! Time compresses as we age or at least it seems to, LOL!

Proud to report that early this morning I called some of those jigs to service and caught a nice mess of fish. Very rewarding.
