found it, watched it, learned a lot, Thanks for sharing
Those jigs look very good. I have a hard time keeping them in my box. After Skip showed me the technique with the V's I use it all the time, mostly for myself. Try a black body while you're at it. I use a lot of those in 1/8.

Your welcome cause, I made that several years ago just for times like these because that subject started coming up more and more. I know when I first found this way to tie the tails it was exciting because I had been looking for a better way since I didn't care for the 2 or even 3 tip tails and for me my mind says the more stems in the tail the more they restrict movement, or you get more action with less tips and more of he V's.
i am just happy that I could contribute to tying better tails.
Skip,
At this stage of the game every little bit of information helps.
I have started getting a hold of very basic stuff to dabble in jig tying. For the most part I have been able to get the information or resources that I need or want with the exception of the "tail" material.
I keep seeing people refer to "neck hackle" and "salt water hackle" as the preferred tail material. I think I have figured out that "hackle" refers to where on the source that the feathers were harvested from, yet all of the "hackle" I have found are "strung" and looks nothing like what your video shows you cutting into little "v's".
I guess what I am asking is where to you get the bigger "saltwater hackle" to cut up and tie the tails with.
thanks
Dennis
Yes, I too would like to know exactly what hackle you are referring to and where to get it. Is this what you are talking about??

Okay guys, regular neck hackle you see out there is 3" to 5" long and Saltwater Neck hackle is longer and cost a bit more because there is less of it. I can't remember if the bottom length is 4" or 5" to 7". SO you get longer and some what wider more webby too. That is all I use on colors I can get it in, but they make more colors in the 3" to 5" stuff.
I remember a few years ago looking for a cheaper supply so I called some of the Wholesale feather places and ask about their strung Neck Hackle price and they said something like $44, but then I said how about 5" to 7" long and it quickly went to over double that, LOL! Now it's even higher for a pound to a good bit over $100 to maybe $120 or $130.
Exactly mifon! I also have noticed JS is a bit less than Bob's which really surprised me since they use to beat almost all the retailers other than CA. But here is the link to it there..
