    Default Flounder Jigs

Figured I would show you guys some the other stuff that I do a lot of.I started in Saltwater stuff. You guys have made a lot of ocean fishermen very happy by teaching me the proper way to make a jig in the last few months.Flounder season is on in New Jersey and my brother in law loves you all, lol. These are 3/4 oz. with a 3/0 hook.Bucktail of course.Even got an Eletric Chicken in there.Very easy to tie after doing a bunch of 1/64 ozers.

These are the coolest things because they have a barb behind the collar that you can put a Saltwater Gulp Grub onto.

    Good for you congrats,
Hey I use to live near Corpus Christi and fished a lot in the bays around there and North of there. Anyway there was a bayou that went through the bay and cut the barrier Island all the way to the Gulf and the banks of that near the Gulf had lots of flounder. We would catch them on spoons and taut tail jigs, but one day I went over there and always some people there fishing and that day there were 3 guys and they caught 67 flounder and they got them on what looked much like a marabou tail crappie jig. Rust brown one was and didn't see the others, but I never forgot that little tid bit.

    Jigs look good.

If you fish areas where the mullet are a primary forage, brown will kick butt. ALL of the commercial guys around where I fished in FL used finger mullet no more than 5" long. The recreational guys used jigs and plugs that imitated those and ate well. Slow working a brown backed mirro lure deep around the cuts and drains produced large seatrout and flatties as well. Any jigs that could get close to that color combo should do well. Flounder like em tipped with belly strips or shrimp, just enough to make em stink. No flounder in TN, bad deal.

Those look good! Perfect salt water killers for a lot more than flunder. What size thread are you using on them? I would use a 280 or a heavy sewing upholsetry thread for those big boys. Add a drop of nail polish or super glue with the last few wraps and whip finish for super hold.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

The 280 will save thread but the 140 works. Add some hard as nails before you completely finish so the wraps are all coated in it to finish it off.
