Powder Paint Recipes

If anyone has any neat colors they have come up with I would sure like the recipe. I'm just starting to play and will post anything I come up with.

That's a good idea. Posting our mixtures of colors, layers, spatters, etc could be very useful.

I have one 2 oz. bottle that I mixed up.It is really a very cool green.It's so hard to have a formulated recipe though.Once you start mixing and trying it out,you always add a little of this and that to make it look a little better.

Yea, it would be great to have folks post thier recipes on powder mixing. I've never tried it, but some good looking colors could be made.

Ever since I first got powder paints I've been experimenting with mixing colors. I've found that you just need to play around until you find what you're looking to create. I always try to keep track of a mixture but after adding my primary colors then a dab of that and smidge of this and oh I think I'll just put in a bit of those the formula is pretty well shot to hell. It is always neat to see the final product after they come out of the oven. I intentionally double dip on a lot of jigs to give that "bubble nose" effect to some jig heads. All the jig heads pictured are 1/16oz. I usually at try to somewhat match or coordinate my head and body color. Should you over dip your jig (as in pic 1) and fill the eye it easy after they cure to heat a wire on a touch and peirce the eye. This is an easy way to get that unwanted PP out. Most of the time I hold the jig by the eye with a hemostat and don't experience a lot of PP getting in the eye. Notice the difference in the hooks in the pictures. I usually use nothing but #4 Matsou Black Nickle Sickle Hooks. I'm not sure how the jig in pic #1 got there. Just keep trying and you'll find that mixing PP is not only fun, but addicting.

Well that kind of answered my other post. Those are some interesting combinations. I might have to mix up some metallics with my black and purple to see if it gives them some shine with the color.

I wonder how well those mixes "mix" in a fluid bed? I would think you would see the same speckling from it.

Only "recipe" can give right now is one Flatfish gave me. 1 tablespoon of glitter with 2 ounces of whatever color. It worked well to give just enough sparkle. I wonder how the sparkle will work in the fluid bed, it may either be too light or heavy and not mix well but will have to try and find out.

I don't mix different powders together, but I do layer different colors over eachother to make some unique colors and combinations.

I call this one "Firebug", it's a super glow yellow base and then a very quick dip (just in and out) into Ruby Slipper

I call this one "4th of July", a Ruby Slipper base and then a quick dip into Saphire blue.

This is "Christmas", a Ruby Slipper base and then a quick dip into Dragonfly.

This is Black Neon, not a unique color... but I like it! A black base and then a quick dip into Ruby Slipper.

The pics don't really don't the jigs justice, they're much brighter and shinier in the sun (I need to work on my lighting).

Chicken Pox is a great name for a jig.
