Them yella perch taste as good as crappie and the fillets are more firmer..

dont know bout as good as a freckle"but defiantly yellows are a sweeter meat"and firmer"yes by far.

Great sized fish!!! Now on the yellow perch he'd get mounted!!!!!!! I like the smaller perch 9-12 inchs they taste better and yeah the flesh is firmer but they definately don't taste the same.

Used to catch them all the time in Lake Erie when I lived in Ohio! That is some sweet eating second only to the taste of Crappies. In my book 'Gills are a pleasant third place.:D
