Ledhed, can you post a close up of those jig holders you've got there? Looks like paper clips with something on the end to hold the jig.

Lots of solder, big paperclips, and small alligator clips from Radio Shack. I put a piece of heat shrink on one side of the jaws- helps hold the jig in place. Great for painting UL jigs with finger nail polish. Need to make some more (gave away too many) – will try to do a small tutorial…

I like those. That's a neat idea. I don't know what I'd need them for just yet, but they're cool! (I don't paint any jigs by hand....yet)

Holly smoke FISH-4-ALL THATS A SMOKER! I can't tell you what I think Completely but, Me and Piroguepusher boated 10 fish this morning that totaled 17lbs.4ozs. I was using a jig the GRUMPMISTER SENT ME in a personal swap that was simular to that I boated a 2lb 6oz'er on thank's grump you can go to the texas post and look at LOP 1/12/09 Man I ready for sure Grump Im hope you have the luck I did good fishing! "O" we caught 24 total smallest 1/2 lb.

Never done any weaving but I'd like to get My hamds on some of that material in that color and give it a try! I like the white tail the best.

5 Done, 20 to go.

I am tying them with the white tail, crocheted. Time consuming little buggers for sure. 1 hour 22 minutes for the first 5. That is fast compared to the crawdaddies! Oh well, I like it better, it gives a better body shape and is what I tie. Gotta have something to do until the water is clear enough to fish again. Haven't been out in way too long.

Will look really close to the bottom one in the second picture but with a little flash in the tail.

As for the material, go to your local craft store and ask for metallic embroidery floss, DMC Jewel Effects #E130. Takes about 1/2 a yard per jig so I will get 16 out of each skein of it. It is amazing how much material is eaten up with the crochet but getting the same look any other way is beyond me. Trust me, I have tried many different ways to do it to try and make it easier.

I love all the one's that fish-4-all has shown,I like the white tail the best as well.I think I'll leave the weaving to the pro.Awesome looking jigs everyone.FF,I checked out those slabs you got today,more like barndoor crappie. I don't think I'd know what to do with a stringer like that.In another two months that biggest one would have pushed 3lbs.When they get that big do you fillet the fillets?

Weaving/crocheting them isn't hard, is just time consuming. The only hard part is making a semi flat base on the hook to get the crochet to look right. If I could find a jig hook that has a flat roundish collar on it 3/4 the way down the shank it would make things a lot easier.

Got a couple ideas to try but still trying to find that perfect addition to make the crochet look good and save a lot of time and materials.
