    Default Just wondering

After the great fall and winter last year, I was just wondering if "TOO Many" crappie were takin out of S-ville and is that the reason for the poor fishing this fall. I know everytime I went fishing last fall the fish cleaning stations were over flowing with crappie remains. I haven't had many oportunities to go out, but from what I hear not many good results have been turned in. It will be interestilng to see how the tournament turns out today. Weight-In is 1:30 at Eagle Creek.

How did this spring compare with last? It would seem that an over harvest would have shown up in spring also. Don't know. I was wondering if we aren't just a month or so ahead in weather, seems the averages are lower right now and maybe fish have gone deeper already. I hope it straightens out whateve the reason, I haven't had much time to fish in the last year or more and now that I've got some time, its either water is too low to launch boat or fishing is not right. I fished a farm pond last night that is usually pretty good this time of year and caught only 8-10" bass.

seems like there are always a lot of excuses for why nobody is catching a lot of fish, but it never includes we kept too many. it has to make an impact. poor walleye fishing this year could be because of overharvest last year too.

Just give it a little more time . Very hot and dry conditions this last summer has played a role in this years fishing . Let the water cool down another 10 to 15 degrees and you will be surprised .

    See ya Kevin ><)))*>

Fish K 3--I think a lot like you. When the fish are easy to catch, I think a lot of people tend to "over harvest", rather than practicing catch and release as much as they should. Hopefully I'm full of hot air and the bite will get better, but I've talked to too many good fisherman who aren't catching too much. I know that the lake will rebound because there are a ton of short fish that will be big enough in a couple of years, but lately patience has not been one of my strong suits. I still get a kick out of the thump when tight lining and to cork going down when cork fishing. I really don't care about the size of the fish, as long as I'm catching something.

Well this past year there wasn't too many day that you couldn't fish because of ice or what not and several day when you couldn't even find a spot to fish at, places like coalshaft and sorts. It seemed to me that if the lake was over fished that it was from mid lake to the north end. Just wondering if the south end will produce more and better fish this year. Just a thought. And damn Jerry if you ain't catching fish then there is not fish to be caught. Wayne, we still got our white bass to catch. I have talked to some people that said they didn't have a problem catching crappie this past week so so there is still hope and like Kevin said give it alittle more time and let the water cool down more.

One thing i have noticed is that most of the fish being caught shallow, like where I can reach them, are black crappie. The black crappie move up sooner than the whites. Also the white crappie out number that blacks 10:1 or so. I would get more concern when water temps drop in the mid to lower 50's and still not seeing the white crappie. Not saying that you are wrong, it could very well be an issue, but think it is too early to tell yet.
