hello to all yall Ga CC members. Wife and I are thinking ahead to possible retirement close to her frind in the Carlton, Ga area. Any advice as to a good location to focus on with some great crappie fishn close by. What are the tax comparsons between Ga. & SC. We sure aint rich since this is the third marriage for both of us so dont stear us to no high $$$$$$$ areas, we want to down size and we do mean DOWN. Like a mobile home or park model camper. Any and all help is much appreciated

    Default Welcome to Georgia

The area of georgia your friend lives in is a little pricey on land. If you don't mind coming a little south of there you can find some $3-5K/acre land. Good luck and when you are visiting the carlton area check with some locals for a place that needs a caretaker and you may find free or low rent until you locate that special inexpensive retirement location. That area is close to Lake Oconee,Clark Hill Res.,Lake Rusell, and Lake Hartwell, all are well known crappie hangouts. As said, some areas around there are pricey, but where there is a will, there is a way. Good Luck.

Come on down. You may find the area around Elberton good. Lands runs about $3-4,000 per ac. Land shouldn't be much more than that in Carlton. I do know th efishing is great at Russell and upper Clarks HIll. Striper fishing is also good at times. If you come down for a vist let me know by this forum and we'll get together and maybe drwon a minner or two and might be able to help with locating land.
