    Default fishing line test


    found this on anothe site . thought it my intrest some of you. especialey the ones that catch the 5 pounders . lol


    results of fishing line break at differen`t temps.

    A test was conducted with 8 pound twst fishing lines to determin the effects of tenpertures on fishing line failure. Each testwas conducted 3 times per temps range. Each fishing line type was allowed 15 minutes within each temperature zone to allow for acclimization.Machine force was constant untill line failure accurred.

    Braided line (8 pound Test)

    6 Degrees Fahrenheit-- line failure accured at 18 pounds of pressure

    40 Degrees Fahrenheit-- line failure accured at 15.3 pounds of pressure

    80 Degrees Fahrenheit-- line failure accured at 21.6 pounds of pressure

    Fluorocarbon (8 pound test


    6 Degrees Fahrenheit-- line failure accured at 7.9 pounds of pressure

    40 Degrees Fahrenheit-- line failure accured at 9.8 pounds of pressure

    80 Degrees Fahrenheit-- line failure accured at 13.7 pounds of pressure

    Monofilament fishing line (8 pound test )

    6 Degrees Fahrenheit-- line failure accured at 8.3 pounds of pressure

    40 Degrees Fahrenheit-- line failure accured at 8.8 pounds of pressure

    80 Degrees Fahrenheit-- line failure accured at 8.1 pounds of pressure
