Didn't know if the Blue water was anywhere close or not. Was fortunate where I fished, didn't have to go more than 6 miles offshore, sometimes only a mile or two.
A few from my Salt Water days.

Actually have done a few trips with my buddy in Stuart with light tackle for Mahi Mahi. Light spinning rods freelining live sardines. Great fun it is. But unless I go to Stuart or further south that boat will most likely not see the stream. I am confident the boat could make the trip no problem, worried more about the captainActually caught that bonehead on a light spinning rod and chug bug when the school blew up the surface next to us. Nothing like screaming drag for a couple hundred yards. Thankfully I had it spooled with braid so I had plenty of line for him to play with. I think if I had been using mono on that small 2500 series reel he would have spooled me or dang close to it.

The gulf stream is usually right at 40nm east of Ponce Inlet, 36nm east of Port Canaveral. 6nm would be around ths Ft Pierce area to Miami. Would love to tangle with one of them Roosters some day. Some day we have to get together, like to hear more on your adventures in Mexico sometime.

I understand that. On the cruise ships they very strongly urge you to not go on self guided excursions in Mexico. Belize they pretty much dont give you any choice. You come ashore in a fenced area and can not leave unescorted by tour guide. Different world down there.

Mike,
My wife and I lived there for 10 years, I got some stories! We were pretty adventurous back then, wouldn't attempt it nowadays though. There were places I could go 30 miles + or - nothing but the Beach and the Ocean, never see another person or house. Can't explain the feelin.
I apologize for getting off track!!
Looking forwards to seeing some of your catches, Saltwater as well as Freshwater. You have a real nice setup, be safe my friend.
