Can't beat the price..........good luck

Had a friend who had this boat at his house, Parked under a tree for the past 10 years, He told me if I wanted it to come and get it, so I did, The bad, No title as the boat was given to his dad without a title from the brother of the last titled owners brother. I know the title issues can be a booger to wade thru but I will do no work on the hull till a title is in hand.
It is a 1982 Bayliner Capri with an 85 Force and the trailer is in great shape, just pulled it out of the bushes, the tires were 6 inches deep in the ground, aired them up and towed it the 56 miles home with no issues.
The floors are shot, all the interior panels are shot, Transom is solid as a rock as is the hull. Basically I would build the interior of the boat to suit my needs. This would be the second time I have done this type of build, the last was with my dad and a boat he got out of Ga. that one had all the paperwork.
Already had the HIN numbers checked and there are no reports as far as being stolen so that is the first step, Next I will go to the tax collector and see what I will need to do. If anyone has any ideas pleas pass along either in this thread or in private message.

Looks like a long line special to me RR
That'll keep ya busy for the summer !! Good luck with the title work.
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
Apply for a lost tittle -
C_D...I have been there and done that. In GA, I didn't need a title on my boat due to the age of it (1988). It turned out to be a great boat for long lining out of. Lots of work but worth it. Here is the thread from start to finish. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/flori...-project-boat/ I recently sold that boat to a friend and I am still having some regrets, but at least I know he is going to take good care of the boat....Good Luck on your project!!!

In Florida you are required to have some proof of ownership.
The trailer ususally go with the tittle of boat.
In order to move it around you will need a license for trailer. This can be done
by saying it is hand made. Make sure no id numbers on shown and no mfg name
on it..............Again - you will be applying for trailer tittle to move it with.
Believe with age of boat and possible original numbers on it - it can be tracked down
and a duplicate tittle issued to so it is legal in Florida (needs a number on side of boat)Tax collector at Lake Wales office are very helpful in situations of this nature.
They worked with me when i rebuilt a pontoon boat and salvaged a tandem axle trailer
off old Crestliner that went to dump after purchase do as i could make into pontoon
trailer.
You do have a project there - i asure you - you will be a while on it......do not get
discouraged - work on it only a little each day...............
Just curious - have you tried to start engine yet ? if it is locked up - may want to
pull plugs - squirt penetrating oil down cylingers to loosin things up..............
10 yrs setting may and will put a hurt on an engine not used.......
This would be waste of time if you have another engine to put on it.
I agree with 813. I had issues trying to get replacement titles on boats that guys were trying to sell me when I lived there. I was always told I had to go back to the previous owner that was identified by the FL#'s on the nose or by the vin # in the gelcoat somewhere on the transom. The one time I was able to find a previous owner he wanted money, later claimed it had been stolen and so on. I hope you do better than I did. That could be a sweetheart but I wouldn't do a thing until it was YOUR boat.
