Default 2012/2013 SLABFEST planning, need your input

We need your input for the coming season's activities and locations.

During the April CLASSIC Slabfest there was a discussion on maybe changing the number of SLABFEST cooking events and also maybe having some events at some lakes where there doesn't appear to be any facilities to have a cookout, like we have been having.
We would need to have someone familiar with the area under consideration, to be able to determine if the area would support a sizable group to launch and retrieve their boats.

How many slabfest/cookouts will be held?

    Under consideration is:
OCTOBER -- Lake Monroe, Volusia County Park.
NOVEMBER -- November should be left open for those that can make Talquin and possibly throw a fruitjar around here non points associated fer fun like last year
    DECEMBER -- Astor, December 14th.
JANUARY -- Crescent Lake, Crescent City would this be a slabtogether and fish til 3 or so?
FEBRUARY -- Lake Griffin, Lake County
MARCH -- Maybe a Harney run in March.
APRIL -- CLASSIC at Lake Monroe, Volusia County Park.
For the Lake Griffin State Park, there is a fee for the rental of a pavilion and an entrance fee of $ ____ per each vehicle.

Discussion was also about the POINTS RACE. Idea expressed -- Have Six ( 6) scheduled events and only using Five (5) for the total. Each entrant will have the capability to discard one event, weather due to a no show or poor performance.
Would we want to award Trophies at each event with/without cookouts or just record official weights for the points race?

Discussion on additional activities, which may not enter into the POINTS RACE, have a "fruit jar" event, Will the fruit jar events be totally independent of our regular monthly events or the entrants catch be able to compete in the points race?? These events could be scheduled without much notice
Would need someone to step up to co-ordinate these events. where each entrant is required to pay an entry fee and the total of the entry fees would be paid out to the top three of the event.
Will need someone to be responsible for heading up this activity.

Would trophies be awarded??? If so, need to acquire fund to purchase trophies separately.
For those who wish not to participate in the financial and awards part, they would be welcome to join in the fishing and be able to "unofficially" weigh-in their catch.

Got to have a trip to Crescent in there. Also believe Astor and a Harney trip would be interesting. I think the fruit jars should be seperate and used to hit spots that are productive at the time, kinda like a spur of the moment, hey yall come fish my honey hole.

I really want to help out, but, am so afraid that having one at Poinsett would be a disaster (not catching that many fish),
especially for folks to drive all the way down there, ain't but a couple of us in this area.
But, by golly if ya'll want to, I'll certainly go and see if we can rent the park for a day (county park = no guard shack, no launch)
but launch is 1/4 mile on down the road, you'd have to load up and drive back to the park = not that bad a thing .........................
    Please give feedback ................................................

understood it better after I re-read it ......

I been happy with the way we been doin it ....................................

We got plenty of money to run the the slabfests and the fishing get-togethers each month. They will be the official weigh-ins and awards presented etc......the question is concerning the fruit jar events which probably will be in addtion to the monthly event. Does this help you mon?

I will edit the original post by adding comments. They will be in red, to designate input received.

We need all of the input that you fishermen/women have. This is not a one/two man parade. It can't be done without your input and help.
