Well this past Friday was 89Rangers birthday... HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY RANGER!
He called me on Wednesday and asked: “I know it has been a while but I figured with how deep your pond is, we should still be able to catch them, wanna try?”
I responded “you tell me when I will be ready”
We decided we would meet at the local tackle shop and get the minnows needed and try and chase the specks until we got them to eat.
Well it did not take long, but they were not biting the minnows, for whatever reason they liked my chartreuse roadrunner much better for some reason…
Just like during winter they were right on the main drop off where the really deep water in my pond is…
We didn’t catch them like we did last time, but we did catch three VERY nice fish, with only one small one (still a keeper) and all the rest in the 10-11” range…
I ended up getting lucky and student beat out the teacher, I caught 5 Ranger caught 3, and I got the biggun too…
Not too shabby, but not nearly as good as I was expecting…
As always… Pictures speak volumes, and this is all we took.
Cooler shots:
I hope you had a good time even though we didn't catch as many as last time Ranger! - Mike A!

Happy birthday. Catch a bunch more.
From Steve Wunderele - 10-2-84 --"A fishing trip maybe brief, but it's memories are endless."
I just need a way to pinpoint where along the drop off they are... they would eat and then shut down, then eat and shut down... I guess that is normal for this time of year??? -Mike A!
Looks like a goodbirthday present too..............Happy birthday ranger !!
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
Happy Birthday!!
