first of their the best eating. and lots of people use alot of different techniques. so pick one technique and master it. then learn another. theres spider rigging, long lining, vertical jigging, and many others. youtube any of these to get the jest and find one that fits you.

go to myoutdoortv.com and search for crappie fishing videos.....there are tons of em. If you are just starting out you need to at least get an idea of whats going on.

My advice is to check out the you tube vids as suggested above to get an idea of the equipment & methods for speck huntin..........Next try to find a decent crappie lake thats not too big & try a few things out........But beware........you may strike out a time or two but it does not mean youre doing somthing wrong..........specks can be contrarry critters........you can wreck em one day & blank the next.......I am sure of one thing .....Once you have a good day of speck fishing you'll be as hooked as the fish you caught

Sorry fer getting all off topic on ya there redneck. Depends on how deep ya wanna dive in. You can float around a lake or river with a minner under a float, you can spiderrig, longline, pull cranks, dip jigs or like most of us all the above. Best I can tell ya is load up on a bunch a colors of curltail jigs or tubes and different weight jigheads and start experimenting. Spider rig usually around .3-.5mph and longline usually from .8-1.5 but times sometimes call fer something faster or slower. Bunch of good info in here if ya can sort through. Ya deffinately will want to come to a slabfest when they start again this fall. ALOT of good info gets passed around at them as well as some good food. Be warned though, Speckanators cheesy grits and pontiacs coleslaw has started a few fights so step back if they start crowding in on them. Also read the other states forums as there is some really good info in them as well. If ya get a chance follow Stu, SYG, Speckanator, slabkeeper and a few others around a lake.

go to the basspro shop and get you some bobby garland baby shad and 1/32 1\16 oz jigheads and get different colors in old bobby garland and get you a good depth finder and learn how to operate it and expiriment to you find what they want goodluck and welcome to a addicted kind of fishing

those bobby garlands are HIGH man, only get like 12 for $3.00, they sure are proud of em
