Hey CP, just got in from work. When you say a thin piece of plastic what do you mean. Maybe an example. Still haven't been able to check voltage. Will get to that tomorrow. I have no problem with the cost as long as it is functionable and durable. This should dramatically reduce my frustration when fishing in heavy winds.

Thin strip, like a piece from the top of a plastic coffee can maybe?

Prob be best to leave the foot control voltage untouched and just run separate power cable for the solenoids. Plug into cig adapter maybe........Keep solenoid noise off controls.....

I can not guarantee longevity. Minn Kota gives a year warranty....

This arrangement should work just fine. Don't forget, I have never seen one of these units.:p

But I know pretty much what I am talking about here. Well, sometimes.

Last question. Under the magnets inside the epoxy. Is there a black square or rectangle looking device in the epoxy? If so, this is a hall effect magnetic sensor.

Looks to me like if you didn't get the magnets in the exact spot then how will the controller know the difference in the switches??? Just a thought. To be honest, I do not think I want to tackle this foot control so maybe somebody else will give it a try. The cost are gonna run up there pretty good too...:D:D

I agree about the expense. I need to get my hands on a unit. Maybe look at a more economical approach. Hard to engineer from a picture...This is doable though.
