I got one about 4 or so months ago and have to second that. I still carry my old trusty GPS 72 along too, have both up front with me with the 72 on pointer page and 76C on map page.

Well, folks, based upon all the excellent I have read on this forum, and a special thank you to Jerry Blake, I purchased my GSP this week and took it out yesterday and today.
Compared to the Etrex (ms?) by Garmin, this instrument is all a guy needs to find the brush tops. It is easy to use and right on the money, even with the box-stock maps that come with it.
I will be buying more maps but not the inland lake maps. I just don't need them. I will be buying the On the Trails mapping, which shows detailed contours of the dry land...perfect for hunting.
It is just a rock-solid little instrument and I want to highly recommend it to anyone thinking of getting a hand-held GPS. The main advantage is that I can take with me to a friend's boat, or to the woods and can even get the turn-by turn instructions for my wife when she goes on out-of-town trips.
So, "thumbs up" and thanks to all the great information found on this forum, I bought with confidence, and now have a GPS that is serious stuff for crappie fisherman's arsenal. <><

I'm just blown away at how simple it is to operate and how easy it is to read.
Brother Tom and I dropped several tree tops today and marked some out-of-the-water struckure as well and it's just right on the money. I could return to the spot a little while later and place the base of the triangle on the waypoint, look at my depth finder and BINGO! Thar she be, big as day.
I'm off 'til Tuesday and will be puttin' out a few more. The Garmin just opens up a whole new aspect of crappie fishin' for me.

completely waterproof and they float too.
The standard mapping that comes with the 76 CSX is adequate for my fishin' purposes, but I went ahead and order the topo maps sos I can use it to chase a few turkeys and deer this next season.
The Garmin folks told me that if I down load only the maps I need (Arkansas/Missouri) that the 128 SI card that comes with it will be sufficient.
That's great! Keeps me from puttin' another 80-100 bucks into the machine for a 256 card.
I used it again this past Saturday and found every point from the past week-end but one. For some reason (pilot error fer sur) the waypoint "Cedar Tops" had drifted 200 yards UP ON THE BANK. But the rest were right on the money.
The one that "drifted" is the very first waypoint I did so I probably muffed it up somehow. But it's a great machine and I am excited about using it this Fall.
