If Ozi will export or save files in a GPX format. It must I would think. Then Import the gpx into Hummingbird pc and it will convert to the Hummingbird format

Its really not as bad as it sounds! Hummingbird PC will import all of these gps formats!

    GPX
    Lowrance .usr and .low
    Garmin .mps and .gdb

You then can convert and/or transfer them to your Hummingbird!

    It is slick and easy!

But IF you like your data, always back it up in a safe file before you start changing it! you should back it up anyway. When the battery in your unit goes dead. Your data dies too! Then your Honey hole could turn into a wonder hole! I wonder where it is!!
    Good Luck!

Unlike the rest of the manufs, Humminbird had to come up with their proprietary protocol. Just makes it more complex for all, It doesn't serve any purpose to rig the protocol. Someone will CRACK it if need be.

I like their products, but I don't like the way they force you to use their interfaces. Lots of other people feel the same as I, but are not as vocal as I am about things of this nature. I could care less about hurting Humminbirds feelings. My money. They want it.

You have me wondering. what makes Hummingbirds gps any more propriorty than lowrance or garmin? They all use there own maping programs, and file formats!
GPX is the most universal. Hummingbird is using that!

We all know that GPX is a XML format for interchange of GPS data (waypoints, routes, and tracks) between applications.

EASY GPS is a shareware program that uses this format to send/receive data from most GPS units. You will not find Humminbird on the user interface list.

Sure, I understand the GPX file format, but you have to go thru the removing the sd cards, running Humminbird PC program, etc before you can get this data.

Most other units, you plug in a data cable and send/receive data using Easy GPS. I have the humminbird data cable, but it is worthless underway. Can’t use it.

I use (and others also use) moving map applications. I can upload/download data to and from the GPS on the water with just a data cable for most GPS units. I don’t have to pull out any sd card and don’t have to run a special application program (on the water) to send/receive data from the GPS

The only time I use Humminbird waypoint is to set up a trolling grid.

Humminbird did not have to make a special program to transfer data. They did this to Bogart their units and force registration. I am an old EX-engineer. I know how this works.

Forced registration is not freedom of ownership. It is socialistic.

It is NMEA 0183 output only. This signal is good for NMEA 0183 listening devices only.
