I have a 998 on the console..a 859 up front that gives me 2-d, and GPS...I recently bought a Helix 9 to add up front that would add side scan, and Di...these will all be networked thru a box....second transducer will be mounted on a separate pole up front

    Thanks Richie,

So I think I will either:

    A. get G2N Helix 7 for the bow connect to US2 and networked to the 998 @ console.

    B. get helix 10 with SI to put on console and move 998 to bow connected to US2 and networked to the 10 at console.

Both options will give me what I'm looking for in 2D and maps at bow, also the ability to reference DI/SI from rear transducer. And not have to deal with transducer mounting issues with Ulterra maintaining a clean look.

    Correct?

B would be a bit more costly I assume, but with these new MEGA units etc. coming out I may be able to get a current model at a reduced rate.

I typically buy a year or 2 old as a rule of thumb anyhow...

Either option should work ..as long as your option B is the HELIX SI (networkable) ..

just when I thought I had it all figured out...

major wrench in my plans.. my TM is the Rip Tide Ulterra salt water series and for some reason Minn Kota did not include the US2 in this model..

I hate to spend the coin on a unit that will just mirror the rear, but there don't appear to be any clean installs for adding a transducer to the Ulterra line. Too bad you can't just mount an iPad up there to mirror the screen..

Alright new plan.. saw the cornfield air hose mount you had referenced Rickie and that looks like something I can live with. I also keyed in that you have said multiple times that dedicated DI is very advantageous so I think I will go with a Helix 9 DI / GPS combo. mount the transducer to ulterra using the air hose mount. networked to the 998c SI @ console.

    decent set up?

Or would you all suggest moving the 998 to bow and getting a Helix 10 SI combo for console? (sounds like more hassle, and I don't need si necessarily at bow and would miss out on the dedicated DI)

Sorry for beating this thing to death... it has obviously consumed me today.

    thx!

I think you will find dedicated DI (along with your 2d) very cool ...

cajun fryer (cornfieldcrappiegear.com) makes CNC machined brackets included with his air hose cable management system ... it's a good looking Setup ...

Rnvinc- when is the expected launch date for the new "mega" units? This will definitely put alot of nice, used units on the market!

I think I saw Dec / Jan. I'm going to wait it out and pick up a current generation once thevery price drops or pick up a nice used one after the release.

December January is what I've seen also ...

Brian and David will keep us updated for expected delivery dates ...

I think dealers can already take pre-orders ...
