It sounds like you may have grounded the foot of the trolling motor when you did that. Check that trolling motor fuse with a meter, not just visually as it should be in the internal trolling motor wiring to ground the foot of the trolling motor. You should tell the Humminbird CS folks this so that they can tell the Minn Kota folks this (they may be working with them to find your trolling motor interference solution).
Sorry to be such a neophyte at this. Just want to be sure you are referring to the 3 amp fuse in the trolling motor head. I put another 3 amp fuse in even though it (my second fuse) did not appear to be blown.
