Turn the console unit back on Boatbottom and try turning on and up the Noise Filter menu in the 898 unit and see if that works for you.

Will do. Just got this boat and have also discovered my si is not working. I get a very light screen and no detail but when I turn off the trolling motor the screen detail is great. The three amp fuse in the I pilot was blown so I changed it yesterday and tested. Still no si. Am going to check the fuse again today. I have a three bank charger Should I unhook it from the crank battery? Thanks

I would try if the fuse in the trolling motor is blown again as something is causing it to blow. If you can't find anything, try calling the Humminbird Customer Service folks to help get it sorted out. Trolling motor interference is sometimes difficult to overcome, so be prepared to try multiple things to get this fixed.

if you're trying to get SI with the US2 built into the trolling motor, it won't work. US2 is only 2d sonar.

Using my own transducer. Trobleshooting said a blown fuse in the us2 line can still cause interference even though you're not using it. Thanks for trying

That fuse is on the ground line to the foot of the trolling motor. If it blows there may not be a good ground source for the motor and it may start radiating RF energy (aka: trolling motor interference). Something caused the fuse to blow and that is what you need to eliminate.

Ok. SI still getting interference. I have checked the fuse I put in the trolling motor and it's still good, increased the noise filter to high, disconnected the cranking battery from the 3 bank charger. Guess the next step is to call HB.

i have the same problem with my unit. CS recommended locking the bottom depth so it wouldn't constantly re-adjust. most of my water is less than 40 ft so I lock it there.

Thanks, most of that issue is gone now. Mine only varies 1-3 tenth but I had not tried manually setting the depth.

You need to work on reducing/eliminating/stopping the interference that is causing this. Call Humminbird back and see what they suggest next. There are many possible solutions so just be patient and find the one(s) that work for your boat.
