Remove the HDSI from the TM and hang it in the water away from the TM and test ...
If the interference is no longer present ...inspect the xducer cable carefully for nicks ...
And check the strain relief rubber around where the cable enters the xducer housing ...
This little gremlin is being a bugger ...

Received the TM choke today. I can install it between my quick connect and the trolling motor but would rather install it before the quick connect. I don't have much cable on the TM. Does it make a difference?
Here's the TMC 1 installation guide ...

Thanks, Rickie. The instructions do say the short wires on the choke connect to the TM. No mention of quick connect so I'm assuming it's ok as long as the choke is next to the base. I would like to expedite this solution and go on and do the final step of grounding the TM to the negative power cable since it will already be exposed for the choke installation. If grounding is the next step would that be the right location ? Would save doing another splice.
Ok, I have not water tested yet but dry testing after installing choke gave very slight improvement. I then ran a ground from the transducer mounting clamp to the negative power wire at the point of tie in with the choke. Dry. Testing shows zero interference. I'm going to run the ground up the TM shaft and down the coil and connect to the negative power cable. Will take her to the water and let you know.
Good news! Tested on the water and almost all interference is gone. Bad news! Right side image picture is almost half dark. Left side is fine. Honestly, I couldn't make this up. I guess until I got a clear signal I could not see the issue on the si. I did have a third party in the boat and will check again to be sure the boat was not listing. Also will make sure the ducer is positioned level. If next test shows the same problem I will replace the ducer with another I already have. But first try to find someone with the same setup and cross test. Any other suggestions? I'm ready for this saga to be over!
Remove the xducer and hang it in the water far below the boat ...
If the right SI issue is gone ... There is an obstruction ...
If the right SI issue is still present ... Crosstest head unit and xducer ...
