    Default Finally

got my point 1 calibrated. I was driving around in circles and folks just kept coming over to see what I was looking for and look at my boat. Million questions and all answered.

Wonder which ones thought I was drunk? ha

I don't know how to tell when the compass is actually in command???? Had my issues using the touch screen. It don't like me.

Them screens all looks good and I looked like I knew what I was doing.

Not all things are as they appear. Bet you got a chuckle from your outing. Good to hear some folks checked on you to make sure you was o.k.

Tom, did you run the Point 1 through the NMEA backbone? The little flashing light"no gps fix" tells me to turn the NMEA power on.

Yep on NMEA. I kinda wished the boat icon changed colors when in magnetic mode only.

    .
Under Data Source, Vessel, select the Point-1 as the heading source, then the heading sensor (point-1) takes over.

That would be nice, and it does just that if you use the Point-1 (or any heading sensor) with the pre HDS units (LCX and LMS). The boat ICON will stretch out and turn red.
Lets you know the heading sensor is active. A great feature not included with the HDS series.

Point 1 is selected. I just don't know who is on active duty (gps or mag compass).

Still need to select the Point-1 for GPS and again for Heading.

In this screenshot I have the GS-25 (Smirad version of the Point-1) selected for heading. You have to make a heading selection to use the Point-1 one as the compass.
Think of the Point-1 as two individual items in one small package.(GPS antenna plus heading sensor). Select the gps and the heading sensor and the Point-1 is active with both.
