Would have like to have seen an 83 only 2D image. But, the 83/200 2D is improved in my opinion over 6.74 and other versions above 6.49. By that I mean I don't see "pixelation" in the 83/200 image. Hard to tell in an image that contains all three (2D, DI and SI). Would have been easier to tell if this was a full screen 2D 83/200 shot.

Not sure if it was the water clarity from various "junk" in the water (pollen, plankton, leaves, et al) or what but the water column in the DI and SI images on the 83/200 image set is cluttered relative to the 200 shot.

Don't see any noticeable improvements in SI, DI and 200 2D.

The pond was riled up & chock full of grunge - it's dark water and the goop is starting to multiply plus the wind whipping didn't do us any favors.
Probably won't get out until the weekend, if I can - I may sneak over to an 800+ acre lake & try a few shots during the week.
    No promises though.

*Put the "Beam Select" on 83kHz...

*Get a clean straight full screen history in SI....(your normal scanning boat speed and Chart Speed)...
*Open a zoom box on the vertical line where the water column meets the bottom detail...
*Zoom all the way in on this vertical line...
    *Take a screenshot...

    2nd test....

*Put the "Beam Select" on 83kHz...

Rickie, these are using the 83 on the 2d.i don't believe that there is a noticeable difference in chart speed between the two.there is a big difference in chart speed with the si range way out though.

The only reason I'm still on 6.49 on both of my 998s is because of the problems with 83 kHz in the latest versions. I use 83/200 religiously while vertical jigging with spoon and dropshot when the fish go deep. If the "pixelation" problem has been resolved with 7.09, then I may give it a try. If not, I'll stick with 6.49.
Brown trout, these are 83khz shots I took this morning.i changed some setting in some .some are switch fire max and clear.i also changed surface clutter. ......

Thanks Kosmo! I really appreciate the work you are doing here.

I may give one of my 998s a try with the 7.09 software and see first hand how the two compare. One with 6.49, the other with 7.09.

Thanks kosmo...it does look promising that the zigzag may be gone...for users with x98 series SI series units....

    Kos?
I got that ANNOYING DI white out while using the 3 way sonar view (didn't try any other other views) when I had chart speed on 2 - I'm guessing you have 7.09 loaded now, I do - do you get that issue on your 998 (c HD SI I'd guess... mine is.)

    Thanks!

    Thumbs up

    Seems to be.
It only occurs when I have the chart speed @ 2.
I "borrowed" an 899 image from another HB user (chart @ 2) that was having issue on (which I didn't have happen to me using an 899 my buddy has) - but I didn't try chart @ 2 with 7.02 for my 899 YET.
I just wanted to know if you turned your chart down to 2 if you got this result (leading edge):

I'm pretty sure I had the DI Enhance set the same as shown also - cuz I play with settings a lot too.....
This happened on the 3 way view on my 998c HD SI last time out running v7.09 with 83/200 - I didn't see this on an 899 of my buddies set to a chart speed of 2 and 200 only though a gent on another site was experiencing this anomaly. He never did reply if he was running 200 -200/83 or 83 only.
I was wondering if you'd seen this result, or would like to test for it??
I was in pretty deep water when I fired up 800 KHz and it seemed to have SI "wash out" like the newer 2014 models, and I know I should have stuck with shallower water testing - but it makes me wonder if they broke something trying to fix another???
You running v7.08 yet or did you load v7.09???

    Thank you Kos,

    Robert
