There are several filters in the HB units..."Surface Clutter" , "Noise Filter" , "Switchfire" , (and who knows what others)...

I would have to think that any "filtering" hinders the actual effectiveness of the unit...

While some filters are absolutely necessary to combat certain issues that each is designed to alleviate...there seems to be "shortcut cheats" that may allow the unit to use less "filtering" while still controlling those adverse effects that the filters are designed to alleviate...

My thought was to turn the "Surface Clutter" filter as close to "Off" as the setting would allow (higher Surface Clutter setting of 10 means less filtering)....

Then use the "Upper Range" setting to simply "not see on the display" the extra surface clutter that was going to show in the 2d image from the "Surface Clutter" setting being maxed out...

It is definately interesting to hear your other observations of better unit performace characteristics simply by turning this "Surface Clutter " filter off...

I need to experiment more with this same line of thought with my 1197...

This picture is scroll speed 5,switchfire set to clear and surface clutter 10.(keep in mind, that 2d doesn't function the same while 360 is running)...
