The power cord from the 798 should work with the 1198

Did you buy it new and install its yourself or buy it used and it came with the optional GPS external antenna.

Bought it used, it was a 2011 model that only had external, no internal.

I wasn't aware of any 798's without internal.

What year is your 798? What is whole model number? I assume it is not a ci.

    Thanks

Humminbird first came out with the 798 units for the 2009 year. They could be bought with an internal or an external GPS Receiver.
In the 2011 model year they started manufacturing only the internal GPS Receiver version (by you can always add an external GPS Receiver).
