Just curious, I'm getting my terrova tomorrow and it currently has Autopilot but I'm ordering ipilot next month for it. I was wondering what the max range is so I can be the cool guy launching his boat then signal for the batboat to come to the dock and pick me up, lol. Be kinda embarrasing to let it drift out of range though and abit cold to swim after it right now.
good luck with that
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Hah it's pretty neat. I've saw some people will launch and as they slide the boat off the trailer, drop the tm then when it's clear of the ramp when it's crowded instead of packing in by the dock with everyone else just hit spotlock until the vehicles parked then drive the boat over with the remote.
Remember, it has no eyes. If it drifts out of its zone and someone else moves into that space, you will have a collision.

I have tested my ipilot remote to 300 ft and worked fine, the most I have remote control the boat while not in it is about 100 ft. I have done just what you are trying to do and have had no issues. Last time FWC man was at the ramp and wanted to search oh I mean safety check my boat once I pulled out. I kicked my boat out and walked away and hit spot lock when boat was away from dock. I do not think he could decide between jumping after boat or chasing me down. I went to my truck backed it down ramp got out walked over to dock drove back back to me got in loaded boat. FWC man came over and inspected me, we had a laugh.
I pilot will hold its last command until it gets a new one or does not have enough battery to operate.
I have not done that fishing, but I have dropped myself off duck hunting and then drove the boat back out of the duck hole and after the hunt picked myself up.

Never thought of hitting spot lock while parking truck. Have to try that.
I've seen a utube video of someone using IP to have their boat "wait" for 'em away from the dock. Never had enough nerve to try it as haven't felt like swimming after the boat if it were drift off or if the IP lost its last command (could happen) but the spotlock feature should work. Might suggest having a buddy in the boat "just in case" when testing the theory tho.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
Just remember. Do not lower the motor before taking it off the trailer. I've already herd of that being done. Not so pretty.
