Do you guys take your electronics off every time you trailer your boat? I have a 998 on center console which is behind windshield, and, knock on wood, the screen cover has stayed on while trailering. Just finished the install of a 858 at bow on ram mount, but I doubt that cover would stay on at 70 mph. Do you guys hook and unhook every time, or leave them on?
Any other aftermarket covers that will stand trailering? I found this product:
ELECTRONICS GLOVE - Home
But it seems cables will still have to be unhooked, and if I'm going to go through that every time, I'll just take them off. A slit I back for cables would be nice, and I sent them an email asking if that would be possible.
I'm afraid the constant unplugging and plugging of cables could result in damage to pins/connectors.
Any other ideas out there?

Just get a pack of "ball bungees". They are a loop of bungee cord with a plastic ball on the end. I have one of these strapped around my 898 and the cover stays on no problem.

Either the ball bungies or rob butlers. Each will work equally as well. I take mine off just to keep everyone honest

If I'm gonna stop anywhere where my boat will be outta my sight... They come off! Had a 798 stolen while I was in a bait shop a few yrs back.
I use a small bungie cord on my covers just for added protection from coming off.

The cover on my HDS-8 is almost impossible to remove. I litterally had to use a block of wood and tap it with a hammer to get one side of it off. Now the tabs that snap in have broken off, but enough material is still there so that I still need to use the block and hammer method. I personally hate the cover and use it only when I have the unit off the boat and am storing it. I see no reason to protect the screen when trailering the boat since it points backwards anyway.

My 958 at the helm stays on all the time. I do have it secured with locking knobs. Therefore it would take special allen wrench and a open end wrench or similar to remove it. The 758 at the bow comes off and gets locked in one of my rod lockers. It's to easy to walk off with this unit.
I think the units get a lot harsher treatment on the water than they ever would on the trailer.
