These chargers generate some heat when at work so I put about 4 washers between the bulkhead (fiberglass and plywood) and the charger to help it draft off some of the heat. Might not be necessary but it made me feel better. Electrical storms can take em out so I charge em up and going into maintain mode for a while and then unplug until the night before and hit em again. Probably not needed but again, makes me feel better. I open the hatch it's under while it's working also. They are definitely money well spent. If you don't wear down the batt's too bad and don't have to use em again the morning after, 5 amps per bank is plenty.
It is also a good idea to open the hatch cover over the batteries as they will out gas and give off some heat. I say this because in my setup, the batteries are in the compartment with the gas tank, and I installed the battery chargers in a storage compartment, mounted on the sidewall, which is aluminum. Can't be cautious enough when dealing with electricity, acid, gas and heat.
