Depends on how many batteries you plan on having on board.

As with every purchase, do your homework & as it was pointed out, depends on the number of batteries you have on board. There are single bank, dual bank and three bank chargers for one battery, two battery & three battery applications. You can always do something like leaving a fuse out of a charging bank if you happen to get a three charger bank, but only have two batteries. I also didn't mount the charger to my boat, but mounted it on a 1/2 inch board instead for ease of removal.

I went with an XPS 5/5 dual bank charger from BassProShop on a bass boat I had previously ... has some nice features, goes on sale quite often & combined with my BassPro points, was a great deal. Light, compact design, visible indicator lights, trouble status indicators, multi-stage charging, battery monitoring, transfer-on-demand (means if one battery is charged, will apply more amps to the the lower battery), has a long cord and got a lot of good reviews. Don't have the boat any longer, but kept the charger & have never had a problem with it.

There's a lot of onboard chargers out there, think about what features you want in a charger & compare. Hope this helps. .

I updated mine over a year ago. No issues with the other one except I have 3 Batteries and it was a 2 bank. so much easier to plug it in and not have to remember the other batt. I bought the pro-sport (i think) from BPS with some points to make it a better deal and it has done great. These chargers generate some heat when at work so I put about 4 washers between the bulkhead (fiberglass and plywood) and the charger to help it draft off some of the heat. Might not be necessary but it made me feel better. Electrical storms can take em out so I charge em up and going into maintain mode for a while and then unplug until the night before and hit em again. Probably not needed but again, makes me feel better. I open the hatch it's under while it's working also. They are definitely money well spent. If you don't wear down the batt's too bad and don't have to use em again the morning after, 5 amps per bank is plenty.

It is also a good idea to open the hatch cover over the batteries as they will out gas and give off some heat. I say this because in my setup, the batteries are in the compartment with the gas tank, and I installed the battery chargers in a storage compartment, mounted on the sidewall, which is aluminum. Can't be cautious enough when dealing with electricity, acid, gas and heat.

I run two batteries in mine. Just bought the Minnkota 210 2 bank charger. It works great and sure beats dragging the charger out all the time. Back the boat in and plug it up. Plus the were running rebates on the Minnkota chargers, think the still are.
