you can google up garmin nmea2000 network fundamentals pdf and see a picture of what I just said, except garmin powered the network in the middle of the backbone. Network will work either way.

Yes you can. That picture of garmin was just an example. Depending on the power cable to your head unit, you may have a power cable spare just for powering the network. Just be sure to fuse it. This arrangement of power is shown in the Lowrance nmea2000 pdf.

I am not familiar with the 520 unit. I just know how the network works. Prtobably best to fuse the network seperate.

So the power to the unit is not transfered to the network? I'm gonna have to have a 48 quart cooler for parts etc...LOL
