    Default HDS zoom issues..........

    1. HDS7 with base map.......................zoom in max 50ft range.
    2. HDS8 with Installed Insight maps.....zoom in is 20ft range.

Called Lowrance. Talked to Linda@customer service. She verified this but tried to pass it off as normal operation. She didn't get far. ha.

    She also verified:

HDS10 with installed Insight maps.....zoom in 20ft range.
HDS7 with Navionics chip maps..........zoom in 50ft range.
    HDS8 with Navionics chip maps..........zoom 50ft range.

Need to check you zoom in function. Let me know.

Both my units have the latest updates.

Zoom makes a big difference, even with my Garmin.

Installed my HDS7 in my truck and figured out a zoom to 20 foot work around procedure.

    1. Allow unit to power up and acquire satellites.
    2. Go to menu and turn simulator ON.
    3. Zoom chart in to 20 feet while in simulator mode.
    4. Go to menu and turn simulator off.

The unit will now zoom to/from 20 foot chart range until you power down. You will have to repeat the procedure if you power down.

I wish lowrance could solve this problem. I am seeing the same results with my navionincs chip and my fishing hot spot chip on my HDS8. I even noticed on the navioincs in some locations on the map it would only zoom to 100ft and on the hot spot I can always zoom to 50 ft and in some locations zoom to 20ft. This is a serious handicap when trying to pinpoint saved waypoints

I haven't tried the simulator on/off on map chips. I don't have one. Give it a try and let us know if it works with them.

I know the legend on my HDS-8 shows 20' at about 1/2". I also know that it's not even close. According to the legend, I could still be 40' off a waypoint, yet in truth, only about 5' -10'. On another note Tom, I haven't found squat on how to overlay 2d with DI. New antenny arrives today, might relocate the LSS1 ducer and install the 4k this weekend AFTER Okie State fights off Mizzou. I also plan to try and find a spot to install the Garmin GPSmap 192c I've been hording on a shelf in my bedroom. High time to dust the bugger off and use it.

I have my settings on paper taped inside my HDS unit cover. I can't remember my exact settings, but I will write up some procedure for this.
