A slight variation to the example Bill posted is to attach the negative lead from the TM to battery #2 rather than battery #1. This is supposed to keep the discharge rate between the batteries more even by forcing the current through both jumper cables. It works on paper but I'm not so sure it is easy to measure the difference in the real world.
